How Wide Is a Bathroom Stall Door?

A bathroom stall door is usually 24 inches wide and 58 inches high, and the stall size is typically 36 inches wide and 60 inches deep. That said, depth can vary from 48 to 78 inches.

As you plan the depth of your stall, keep in mind that there needs to be space for the swinging door. Many bathroom stall doors open inward, so there needs to be enough room for the door to open fully without hitting the toilet. Certain restroom sizes may not be able to accommodate these stall sizes, so you can opt for custom dimensions to meet your needs.

ADA Requirements for Handicap Stalls

By law, public restrooms must have at least one ADA-compliant stall. These partitions are larger than the standard size to accommodate wheelchairs. The door width for handicap-accessible stalls is 36 inches, which is much wider than the standard door. Additionally, the space’s size must be at least 60 inches wide and 60 inches deep.

ADA stalls are often placed at the end of the row, spanning the width of the wall. These alcove sections are usually 108 inches wide. The door will swing out, so make sure there’s enough room in front of the stall.

Sizes of Pilasters and Panels

Pilasters are the supports used for mounting the toilet partitions. They’re usually 82 inches tall and can be attached to a support beam, the ceiling or the floor. The partitions, or stall walls, are mounted 12 inches off the floor.
